Dakota Electric Association will celebrate 75 years of service to its members at its Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 12, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church social hall at 22120 Denmark Ave., Farmington (next to Dakota Electric’s office). The meeting begins at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m., and refreshments will be served before the meeting.

Dakota Electric members will have the opportunity to hear reports from officers and directors, ask questions and hear election results at the meeting.

Balloting materials will be mailed to members on March 27. Members can vote online (www.dakotaelectric.com) using the e-signature included with their ballots, or by mailing the ballots in the postage-paid envelope to Survey and Ballot Systems. Ballots must be received no later than noon on April 12.

Ballots should not be dropped off nor mailed to Dakota Electric Association’s office. Also, if a person chooses to vote at the annual meeting, they must bring their ballot because no replacement ballots will be provided.

Following are the 10 candidates running for four seats on the board of directors:
District 1 (3-year term)
Jerry Pittman, Lakeville, incumbent

District 1 (1-year term)
Ruthe Batulis, Burnsville
John (Jack) DeYoe, Lakeville
David Jones, Lakeville

District 2 (3-year term)
Clay Van De Bogart, Lakeville, incumbent

District 3 (3-year term)
Kenneth Danner, Apple Valley, incumbent
Raymond Yarwood, Eagan

District 4 (3-year term)
Judy Kimmes, Hampton, incumbent
Buzz Anderson, Eagan

Four seats are for three-year terms on the board of directors. One seat (district 1) is for a one-year term to complete the term of a retired director. As a member-owned cooperative, Dakota Electric is governed by a 12-person board of directors. Also on the ballot are two bylaw amendments: one providing for director ineligibility with a felony conviction; and one allowing the official nominee posting to be placed on Dakota Electric’s website rather than in Circuits.

Members are encouraged to attend this year’s annual meeting. Every attendee will receive a special gift along with a chance at great door prizes.
