The Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce (DCRC) recently awarded Dakota Electric Association the Community Leadership Award. The award focuses on businesses that make “remarkable contributions and actions in the community.”
The DCRC presented the award to Dakota Electric on November 20 due to community involvement efforts that have helped improve the quality of life in this area.
Dakota Electric is strongly committed to this local area with decades of involvement in many community organizations. Dakota Electric has donated time and money to many local organizations, including civic groups, youth organizations, schools, charitable associations, scouts, sports boosters and more. Dakota Electric partners with cities and counties and supports the local business community and economic development work. Some of Dakota Electric’s community efforts include: local youth scholarships; Youth Tour trips to Washington D.C.; Veteran support; Dakota County Park volunteering; school donations, employee volunteering and donation activities, among others.
“A core principle of cooperatives is commitment to community,” President and CEO Greg Miller said. “We are happy to live out this principle and provide support to the local communities in many ways. We are thankful to be recognized for these efforts by the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce.”
