Dakota Electric Association donated more than 5,100 tree seedlings this spring, as it wraps up a full schedule of assisting with community plantings and environmental events throughout its service territory.
Each year, Dakota Electric participates in a variety of Arbor Day and environmental events by donating seedlings and providing educational information and assistance. This year, Dakota Electric donated larger trees to the Arbor Day celebrations in Apple Valley, Eagan, Farmington, Hastings and Rosemount.
Part of Dakota Electric’s active spring schedule included coordinating volunteers at Whitetail Woods Regional Park, where 75 volunteers planted 1,000 oak trees in the newest Dakota County park.
“As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, we are happy to assist our local communities and schools with their celebrations,” said President and CEO Greg Miller. “By providing trees and seedlings for planting, Dakota Electric can give back to our communities in a lasting way.”
Since 1997, Dakota Electric has provided more than 141,000 tree seedlings to Arbor Day and other events in the local area.
