The Eagan Police Department has some hybrid squad cars in its fleet, but now they are going all electric and adding a fully-outfitted 2022 Tesla Model Y.  

The Model Y was partially funded through an electric vehicle grant opportunity offered by Great River Energy. Dakota Electric Association assisted the Eagan Police Department with their grant application. The Eagan Citizens Crime Prevention Association also contributed to the new electrified squad car. 

The Model Y recently received its graphics package and will soon undergo upfitting to transform it from a regular passenger vehicle into a police vehicle. 

The Eagan Police Department expects the Tesla to be on the streets in early 2023.
