It is a new year, which means new opportunities, challenges and growth. We look forward to what is to come in 2023.

General update
At the December board meeting, our board thoroughly reviewed the 2023 budget and construction work plan. We continue to see tremendous growth in residential and commercial members even with supply chain challenges and elevated prices facing developers. Dakota Electric will not file a rate case in 2023.

Legislative update
The legislative session is expected to feature certain topics that are important to Dakota Electric’s operations and our commitment to serving our members. Dakota Electric will monitor developments and look for outcomes that best represent our members.

Regulatory update
Dakota Electric is unique in Minnesota as we are the only cooperative regulated by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC). We have a positive relationship with the PUC, and we look forward to continuing this in the coming year. Dakota Electric employees recently developed a unique electric vehicle charging rate utilizing our recently installed smart meter equipment. This rate was filed with the PUC and will be reviewed in the upcoming months.

Member events
We will be hosting our annual meeting in person this year on Thursday, April 27. More details to come soon! We are planning on having our member appreciation event at the Minnesota Zoo this year in July! Look for a save the date this spring — we hope to see you there!
