RTA Charge and Advanced Meter Recovery fee
There will be a slight increase to residential members’ bills in 2023 due to the resource & tax adjustment (RTA) charge and advanced meter recovery fee.
How much is the increase?
For residential members, the 2023 RTA will be $0.0027 per kilowatt-hour, which is $0.0007 higher than 2022. The 2023 advanced meter recovery fee will be 81 cents per residential meter, which is 15 cents lower than December 2022. Together, the fees will increase the average residential member’s bill a total of about 34 cents per month. Commercial accounts should contact an account representative to discuss the RTA charge for their rate class.

Long-time board member Bill Holton of Apple Valley passed away unexpectedly on December 25. He was a 51-year member of Dakota Electric and was elected to the board in 1995.
Bill was very civic minded. His past services included board member of Midwest Energy Services and its subsidiaries, Apple Valley mayor and council member, Dakota County Parks Commission member, ALF Ambulance board member and chair, State of Minnesota Emergency Response Commission Regional Review Committee board member, and as an Apple Valley volunteer firefighter.
Bill was a friendly and generous person. He was willing to help anyone at any time and never left a job undone. He will be greatly missed.
