(FARMINGTON, MN) May 21, 2024 – Dakota Electric Association® is proud to announce a tree donation to seven member cities. Each city picked out and planted one tree of their choice. The plantings took place between April 19 and May 9. In addition, the co-op is eager to celebrate the additional 3,000 dogwood tree seedings donated across the service territory this year. Since 1997, Dakota Electric has donated more than 180 trees to member cities and more than 177,000 tree seedlings to the community in celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day.

Donating trees and seedlings supports Dakota Electric’s desire to do more than deliver electricity to its members. It showcases the desire to make operations more environmentally responsible and help communities create sustainable, environmentally friendly futures. “Since the program started in 1997, we’ve been able to have a massive impact on the communities we serve,” said Lori Peine, Community Affairs Coordinator for Dakota Electric. “Being able to deliver and help plant fully-grown trees in our member cities is a special gift. I’m thrilled we can deliver this special gift to them.”
