FARMINGTON, MN (June 27, 2024) — Dakota Electric recently awarded scholarships to 100 talented high school students in the local area, empowering them to pursue their post-secondary education. Additionally, students enrolled at Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College will be granted scholarships this fall, with a total of $160,000 allocated from the cooperative’s unclaimed capital credits.
Since 1990, Dakota Electric has demonstrated its commitment to supporting students in pursuing their educational aspirations by donating over $2,000,000 toward post-secondary education to students in the service territory.
“This is something we look forward to announcing every year,” said Ryan Hentges, President and CEO of Dakota Electric. “Being able to support students in this manner is a highlight. As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, it’s a privilege to share these unclaimed capital credits and provide scholarships to young people in our service territory. We view this not only as an investment in our youth but also in the future of our world. Congrats to all the recipients, we can’t wait to see the amazing things you accomplish.”
