Bob Kovich received an Excellence in Youth Employment Services Award at the Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board’s (WIB) annual legislative and awards event held Dec. 17 at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.
The Award is presented to an organization, program, employer or an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to and effectiveness in preparing young people ages 14-21 to enter the workforce.
Kovich is the coordinator of the Cooperative Career Training Program at Lakeville North High School. He works with juniors and seniors to develop work skills and life skills. He also connects students with businesses. He has influenced the lives of more than 700 students through his program during the past 15 years.
“Bob is another one of those quiet heroes making a difference in the lives of young people,” said Dakota Electric board member Margaret Schreiner. Dakota Electric sponsors the award.
The Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board oversees employment programs and WorkForce Centers in Dakota and Scott Counties including sites in Burnsville, Shakopee and West St. Paul.
